Xavier Goodridge Gippsland Pinot Noir 2025

A finely tuned, cool-climate Pinot Noir from Xavier Goodridge’s estate vineyards in Gippsland, this wine sits firmly in the “village Pinot” expression of the range—designed to capture the broader character of the region rather than a single-site statement.

The nose is immediately lifted and aromatic, showing bright red cherry, wild strawberry and raspberry coulis, layered with violet florals, rose petal and a faint savoury edge of dried herbs and forest floor. There’s a subtle spice thread running through it—clove, crushed pepper and a hint of undergrowth—giving it quiet complexity beyond its youthful fruit profile.

On the palate, it is light to medium-bodied with a graceful, flowing structure. The fruit is pure and high-toned—red berries, sour cherry and a touch of cranberry—supported by fine, almost filigree tannins and a precise line of acidity that gives shape and energy. The texture is silky but not soft, with a faint mineral grip that becomes more apparent toward the finish.

Compared to the Pa Pa range, this Gippsland bottling shows more detail, tension and vineyard definition, reflecting the estate fruit and the diversity of clones and sites within the broader Gippsland expression.

The finish is long, savoury and lifted, with lingering red fruit and a delicate earthy spice note that speaks more of place than winemaking.

A versatile Pinot that works beautifully with roast poultry, duck, mushroom dishes or slightly chilled in warmer weather. A poised, transparent expression of modern Gippsland Pinot Noir—refined, understated and quietly persistent.
