Xiaopu Perdue 22.1
The most delicate and ethereal of the three Perdue 22s, 22.1 is a beautifully light expression of Pinot Noir from Tianshui, Gansu. Xiaopu keeps the winemaking deliberately hands-off, using native yeasts, uncontrolled fermentation and very gentle extraction, allowing the fruit and site to speak clearly.
The nose is lifted and wonderfully fresh, with red cranberry, wild raspberry and subtle red cherry, followed by crushed gravel and a faint savoury reduction. The palate is light on its feet, juicy and bright, with fine tannins, refreshing acidity and a delicate mineral finish.
A particularly pretty and understated Pinot Noir, showing the cooler, more delicate side of Chinese Pinot Noir.
